KASEYE GIRLS CLIMBS TO MAURITIUS

In a bid to promote excellence and share of professionalism, Kaseye Girls Secondary School decided to visit St Mauricius Boys Secondary School over the weekend. Located in the heights of Lula in Rumphi, St Mauritius is a quick rising school within the vicinities of Karonga Diocese and indeed Northern Education Division. Since it opened its doors in 2022, St Mauritius has already shown that its a great force to racon with, looking at the JCE results of 2024 and the just released NED mock examination results. Considering such a record, Kaseye Girls Secondary School saw St Mauritius a suitable destination to be. A trip than started as early as 2 hours in the wee of Friday, faced a little glitch in Karonga due to Hormuz related fuel challenges rocking this nation. After a two-hour delay in Karonga, the trip proceeded and reached its destination at 11 hours. The program meant to start as early as eight, was delayed by almost three hours due to the delay experienced by the visitors. After a brief welcoming section, the visiting team was taken around the campus to appreciate the new developments taking place at the institution. The campus tour was followed by departmental meetings where teachers from different departments share with each other their professional practices.

Among others, the visiting team learnt how St Mauritius intensifies peer teaching and frequent assessment as ways of uplifting slow learners, enhancing performance and promoting self reliance among students. St Mauritius also shared with the visiting team that their continuous assessments always cover all the content learnt not only selected topics, a thing that encourages comprehensive study and alertness among students.

After everything, the Deputy Headteacher of Kaseye Mrs J. Mkandawire, who was also the leader of delegation, thanked St Mauricius administration for allowing Kaseye Girls Secondary School to visit their institution. She asserted that indeed what had been learnt during the visit, would go a greater mile to promote performance back home. She appreciated the spirit of unity that exists between the two institutions and wished that that has to be the same spirit in all schools within the Northern Education Division in order to promote excellency. In his closing remarks, Mr Mbughi the Deputy Headteacher of the hosting school, thanked Kaseye for choosing St Mauritius out of all other schools. He went on to say that there can never be true success in schools if they work in isolation. He said that as much as teacher-to-teacher interaction was important, there was also need that learners had to interact as through other means such as quiz competitions, exchanging exam items and many others. Finally, he extended his word of thanks to the administration of Kaseye for organising such a grand visit which he described as nothing but a manifestation of unity and cooperation within the institution. “No institution can ever achieve such if it is disjointed,” he said.
