INAUGURATION OF "LOGE" LIBRARY

The day was all smiles on everyone`s faces here at Kaseye Girls` learning institution, for it was only four months ago that the Diocesan Bishop of Karonga blessed the glorious building but on this day, the Donors who funded the library building project came all the way from Germany, their home, to officially inaugurate the building.

They arrived in Malawi on Wednesday of the same week and finally set foot in Kaseye`s campus at thirty minutes after one in the afternoon.

The school`s usual routine was still followed. They decided to have a tour as to see what students do during various school activities such study circles to which they saw how students really enjoyed not only their studies but also their presence.

Quickly clocking to Friday, on the 18th of October,2024 the day was a very auspicious one as recorded in Kaseye`s history.it started off normally as the visitors came and joined the first morning classes of the day which delighted the students present.

The day was declared a half day so as to give the students a chance to showcase their gratitude through various performances. The initial activity was a wonderful mass celebration which was presided by the Fr. John Moyo, one of the priests in the diocese, Fr. Matthews Simwera and Fr. Alan Kita, the school`s former and current chaplains. In his homily, Fr. Moyo thanked the donors for their work and told the congregation about his share of hard work in building the school and is proud of its current outlook. After the mass came to an end, everyone marched in front of the library where the ribbon cutting was done by one of the donors to officially launch the library named as LOGE (Library Of Girl`s Empowerment).

This being done, the students calmly waited for the visitors and the teachers` in the main hall. When everything was put in place, the activities began in which the first was the Ndolo dance performed by form two students. Their dance really portrayed the origin of the dance, Karonga. The climax of the dance led to a standing ovation for their dance was amazing.

The opening speech was made by the Headmistress Clementina Phiri, who expressed her gratitude to the donors for their exceptional work including the library construction. She continued by promising to care for the library and also issued a fence proposal for better security. She also recognized the Bishop and Fr. Moyo who aided the library construction. Her, speech was then followed by a drama performed by members of the senior classes which was entitled “Super Aid” which featured a bereaved family in which the mother was unable to fund her daughters’ school fees but is later on helped by a bursary while the girls went to live with their hypocritical aunt in town.

Fr. Moyo later on made a few remarks on the development of the school and thanked the donors for their non-stop support. He later requested Ms. Itike Mkandawire, a former student and beneficiary who is now a lecturer at Mzuzu university of Malawi, who also encouraged the students to “WORK SMART”. The Education Desk Officer, Mr. Lino Nyirenda also added by thanking the donors for their support and encouraged the students to “ALWAYS WORK HARD”.

The final speech was made by one of the donors who emphasized more on their bursary known as Blickwinkel Afrika which means “look into Africa” as portrayed by their emblem. She also emphasized that they do not to tell Africans what to do but rather Africans know what to do themselves. Ending her speech, she presented various books and indoor games that would be used by students in the library. As per tradition, guests do not go home empty handed, Kaseye also gave each of visitors beautiful zitenje to the ladies and to the men, they gave gorgeous T-shirts

All in all, Kaseye says “THANK YOU!” to the donors for all that they do.
